I grew up in an ice-cream eating family. We ate so much of it, we pretty near had to make our own just to keep the cost down. Nowadays, I do believe it is so much cheaper to buy it from a commercial creamery, but to me, there is nothing better than small batch, homemade.

There are so many ways to make ice cream. We have always liked a custard base, those made with eggs, some with a egg & flour sauce (really an old way) and some using Junket Ice Cream mixes. The latter is really an easy way to go and if you can find it in stores, try it, you will like the creamy texture from this all natural product dating back to 1874.

    Oh, my word! What a recipe. I like the egg/custard based ice creams too (as you know from my recent post). However, I never in my life had peach ice cream with brown sugar, lemon and Cointreau, but I'm fixin' to. Like tomorrow.

    this must be peach ice cream day… I have seen it on tv and several postings today, guess I better get with the program and get me some peaches and try yours it sure sounds wonderful and I just got an ice cream machine to try it! Thanks going to have to make this soon!

    Four tablespoons of vanilla extract is my kind of ice cream! I also really like the trio of sweeteners. You're right; that would round things out very well. We don't have access to home-grown peaches yet, but blackberries are just about ripe so I may have to try this recipe with them. Many thanks, Drick.

    I have such happy memories of eating homemade peach ice cream at my aunt and uncle's house in Missouri when I was a child. Aunt Herma made the best ice cream! I have never tried to replicate it, but might just give your version a whirl.

    what is not to love about homemade ice cream! My wife just doesn't understand about eating ice cream she thinks you leave it in the freezer for months until she wants some….lol..we have a 3 day rule in my house, you want some you got 3 days to eat it!!I would love to try your peach ice cream, I have never used brown sugar or corn syrup in my ice cream recipes, now you have me wanting to make a batch to see how it improves the flavor!CheersDennis
